Facility Worker – Full Time – 40 hrs. per week
(Unionized position – starting rate $31.62 per hour under the current collective agreement)

Position Summary
Reporting to the Public Works Coordinator, the Facility Worker is responsible for:
• Assisting patrons, collecting fees, and supervising use of the Municipal Arena.
• Operation of the refrigeration plant, preparing the arena ice for the winter season, and ongoing maintenance of the ice surface.
• Maintenance of municipal buildings, including cleaning, minor repairs, and seasonal tasks.
• Maintenance of greenspaces, recreational equipment, and other assigned Public Works duties.
• Responsible for the seasonal startup, operation, and shutdown of the municipal pool and splashpad
• Evening and weekend availability is required as part of this role during the arena season. Scheduling will be managed fairly, with every effort made to rotate weekend shifts.
• Ability to respond on short notice for call-outs and emergency work

This role provides important assistance to the Public Works crew and supports a broad range of municipal operations.

Compensation
• Starting rate: $31.62 per hour under the current collective agreement
• Upon obtaining Basic Arena Refrigeration certification: rate increases to $32.50 per hour.
• The Town covers the cost of certification courses.
• Employees may be eligible for a higher rate of pay when operating heavy equipment, subject to training and operational requirements

Minimum Qualification Requirements
• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid DZ licence (or willingness/ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire)
• Valid and clean CVOR
• Basic Arena Refrigeration, Ice Technician, and Certified Pool Operator designations are required, or willingness/ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
• Previous experience in facility or public works operations will be considered an asset
