The Municipality of Moonbeam is seeking a candidate for the position of Planning & Economic Development Officer

Reporting to: Community Services and Economic Development Director

Status: Permanent – Full Time

Department: Economic Development

Type: Hourly ($32.21 - $38.46)

Summary

Reporting to the Community Services and Economic Development Director, the Planning and Economic Development Officer will be responsible for conducting planning related activities, including land-use planning, processing of development applications, Official Plan and zoning amendments as well as to provide support to the Community Services and Economic Development Director in overseeing work towards the implementation of the recommendations contained within the Municipal Economic Develop Strategic Plan and encourage business growth, job creation and investment in Moonbeam.

Requirements

·       A degree in urban planning, Community Economic Development or a related field.

·       Previous planning experience related to land development and/or policy planning and/or land use planning and asset.

·       Preference for experience in a municipal environment.

·       Excellent communication, research, analysis and writing skills (in French and English)

·       Knowledge and experience using a wide range of computer programs such as: MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

·       Understanding of the importance of GIS and other tools in supporting community development.

·       Valid Class G driver license.

·       In accordance with Township policy, this position requires as a condition of employment that you provide a Criminal Record Check that is acceptable to the Township.
